LOS ANGELES - GOLF superstar Tiger Woods will break his silence on Friday, speaking publicly for the first time since revelations of marital infidelity launched a tabloid firestorm, his agent said on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old is to speak on Friday morning from the clubhouse at the TPC Sawgrass, headquarters of the US PGA Tour at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Agent Mark Steinberg said in a statement that Woods would speak to a 'small group of friends, colleagues and close associates' about his past and what he plans next, as well as apologising for his behaviour.
Woods will not take questions, Mr Steinberg said.
'While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognises that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him,' the statement posted on Woods' website said. 'He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that's what he's going to discuss. His remarks will be open to a press pool for live coverage. It is NOT a news conference.'
Woods' long awaited public appearance will come in the middle of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship in Arizona, which started on Wednesday. -- AFP

Tiger Wood is a great golf player and I am a fan of him. However, after the scandal of him cheating his wife, I don't think he is that great. As a celevrity, he should act as an example to his fans. Whatever he does can be seen by everyone else around the world. In this affair, he undermines both his fame and the golf league's reputation. However, after his decision of doing a public talk to his most loved relatives and fans to make up for his bad behaviors, I felt a bit better of him. He is able to face the scandal and apologize bravely. He then gives his fan a brighter future because they are going to see him play golf again soon after the speech.

I appreciate that Bob can analyze deeply. A agree what Wood did undermines both his fame and the golf league's reputation. Being a superstar, he need to care for his daily behaviour ,he need to keep in mind that he is a model for all his fans and take the responsibility.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pity that superstars nearly do everything under the eyes of the public. Since they choose to enter this field, do good things not the evil things become important. That's why his scandal affect his reputation and even his career this much.
I read the recent news that after he made his apology, criticals and his fans still doubt his sincerity. They foundthey become more disappointed. It seems Wood didn't recognize how serious consequence cause by his random behaviour

On my own opinion, I think Woods's behavior is very shamful. As a super star, a hero in many people's heart, what he did was unforgivable. However, I also think we should not care much about his private affairs. Let his family members to decide whether they will forgive him or not.
