summary: It is commonly accepted that climate change will bring endless disasters, however there is an argument saying that global warming is good for plants since plants love CO2 and will have more time to grow in high temperature. In fact, the interactions in nature makes things much more complicated. One of the latest study shows that plants will get no benifit instead of grow taller and stronger when frost comes later than usual. Another study alson implies that growth in CO2 will cause increase in plants we don't want. The understanding of the impact of climate change to plants is still not very clear because of the comlicated interactions in nature. As a conlusion, we can't say that climate change do good to the plants.
comment: Yes, of course, we cannot easily give the conlusion that climate change is bad for plants, but at least the studies showed that it has bad influence on plants sometimes.Moroever, one thing we can be certain is that global warming is threatening our lives right now, and unless we do something immediately, the 2012 may become true in the future. The probem is that how to reduce emission of Green House Gases(GHG) and How to adapt to the changing climate. the failure of the recent Copenhagen Climate Change tought us that some big coutries are not willing to reduce thier GHG for economic reasons. the most important reason is that it's none of thier business, it's the problem of the next generation, and the problem of some small counries like Maldives who are troubling by the rising sea-levels. the only way to solve this problem is to convince those big countries to act and lead the world to save our planet, and that is really difficult.

  1. I agree with Roy’s idea about the necessaty of taking actions to prevent the situation of global warming from getting worse. However, we should have more confidence and see the problems from a more positvie way. Though no actual agreement was carried out after the Copenhagen Conference, there are still positive improvements. I believe, as long as people are aware of the seriousness and pay enough attention on the issue, there will be a final solution. However, in my opinion, what is the most serious is that some people are still unwilling to accept the bad effects global warming brings about. These people carry out theories trying to persuade the public that global warming does no harm to the world or even may cause good things to happen. I strongly oppose them. Our earth was in its own right track when our human beings were not here, thus any great changes caused by human activities go against nature. I think that everyone should be aware of the problem and contribute to saving our earth.

  2. Global warming is really a very big problem to the modern world. It does not only affect our next generation. It is also a proble of us. As I was born and bred in the northern part of China, I can easily tell the climate changes in a few years. Winter is no longer cold and I rarely see heavy snow falling. These changes will absolutely influence us. I still remember how frightened I was after I had watch the movie 'The Day After Tomorrow'. I think all of us are not willing to see this happen. Some of us, some of the government officials still have not realized the catastrophy we will have if we keep damaging our environment. Our world does not belong to anyone or any generation, it belongs to all of us and we have the responsibilty to protect it.

  3. I don’t really agree that the only way to solve the global warning is to convince those big countries to act and then lead other countries. Now, we regard some countries as the big CO2 producing countries; however, some others may take the place of them in the further. If everyone concerns about their own interest, it seems that expecting big countries to lead the world is useless. In my opinion, there is not an only way to save our earth but every person in the planet should take actions and try whatever methods do work. It is a point of awareness. Humans should really gain the awareness from the melting glacier, from the exhausted polar bears, from the moaning plants and also from all the disasters happened in the recent years.

  4. Global warming has become a severe problem resently. Some people even believe that the problem will finally lead to the 2012 doomsday. I my opinion, we still have a great future. From the passage, I lernt two things. First of all, the plants also feel sick about too much CO2, they just grow taller and stronger. Second, the excess CO2 might lead to the overgrowth of plants we don't want. Us government has been blaming the developing countries's over emitting GHG(Green House Gas). However, the problem should not only be the responsibility of those a few countries, it is also the burden of all man-kind. Even though the global warming problem seems to be aggravating, our improving technology will finally help solve it.
